
JAVIER LINARES
Professor of Saxophone at the "Victoria Eugenia" Royal Conservatory of Music in Granada.
Saxophonist Javier Linares combines tradition and innovation, resulting in a young performer capable of conveying the profound emotion of music. Since 2018, he has been a professor in the Saxophone specialty at the "Victoria Eugenia" Royal Conservatory of Music in Granada, and an artist endorsed by prestigious brands such as Henri Selmer Paris, Vandoren, and JLV sound.
A native of Granada, he began his musical studies under his father's guidance, later studying at the conservatories of Cádiz and Seville with Miguel Garrido and José A. Santos, earning unanimous "Honors" distinction from the jury upon completion. Eager to further his education, he studied with Claude Delangle, Vincent David, Arno Bornkamp, Johan van der Linden, and Nobuya Sugawa, subsequently obtaining titles of University Expert and Master's in Musical Performance from UNIA, both awarded "Summa Cum Laude". Similarly, he holds a Master's in Musical Research from the International University of La Rioja.
As a soloist, he has premiered numerous works and collaborated with Spain's most prominent musical ensembles (Madrid Symphony Orchestra, Royal Seville Symphony Orchestra, Euskadiko Orkestra, OSCYL, and ORCAM), performing at numerous festivals and top venues across Spain and Europe, recording for channels such as Arte, RNE, Radio Clásica, RTVCM, and RTVE.
Balancing his artistic endeavors with chamber music, he co-founded the saxophone quartet Tetraktys, the duo Ilíberis, and the duo Farben, promoting the saxophone's role in various formations. He also engages in teaching through numerous masterclasses and competitions at various events both in Spain and internationally (Rome, Utrecht, Munich, etc).
Professionally, he served as principal saxophonist for over a decade in the Music Unit of the General Air Command (Madrid) and the Music Unit of the "Inmemorial del Rey No1" Infantry Regiment of the Army General Headquarters. Currently, he combines his teaching duties with coordinating international relations at the "Victoria Eugenia" Royal Conservatory of Music in Granada and serves as the artistic-musical director of the saxophone department, annually organizing the international festivals Granada Sax Event and Mediterranean Sax Point.
